Nearly half of the nation’s colleges and universities are no longer generating enough tuition revenue to keep pace with inflation, while tuition has increased much faster than family income. These two competing trends are enough to give credence to the words “caution ahead”.
There is room for real innovation in our approach to higher education, however, to meet the challenges of the road ahead, we must grasp the necessity for realistic expectations and continued evolution of our institutions.
