Eduventures Community Outreach

The mission of the Eduventures Community Outreach group is to make a positive impact on the broader Boston community while forging bonds between co-workers. Through its annual offsite and other community service activities, Eduventures provides ongoing support to children and schools in the Boston area and has partnered with Jumpstart and Citizens Schools. We value our commitment to community outreach so highly that each employee’s benefits package includes two extra days of paid time off each year to use for community service.

Jumpstart
Each summer, Eduventures staff takes a day out of the office to give back to the Boston community by volunteering time at local preschools. For the past few years, Eduventures has partnered with Jumpstart, a national organization dedicated to building literacy, language, social, and initiative skills in young children. In October 2008, Eduventures staff participated in Jumpstart's "Read for the Record" event by reading the classic book Corduroy to many children in the Boston area. In August 2007, Eduventures staff painted, cleaned, and organized classrooms and facilities at three local schools and contributed more than $5,000 in paint and other supplies to the effort.

Citizen Schools
Members of Eduventures staff volunteer to be “Citizen Teachers” to a group of middle school students through the non-profit organization Citizen Schools, which operates a national network of apprenticeship programs for middle school students, connecting adult volunteers to young people in hands-on learning projects. Over 10-week “apprenticeships,” students come to the Eduventures office for hands-on instruction about a subject the staff knows much about: market research. Each program culminates in a WOW! presentation by the students about what they learned during the program.
