Laura Boothroyd, Director, Consulting

Laura brings 15 years of consulting experience to Eduventures' Consulting Services practice. Her most recent engagements in the higher education and K-12 space include devising an international expansion strategy, evaluating ROI of a new product launch, and offering existing programs and services via new delivery channels. Laura has completed several benchmarking studies with higher education and K-12 clients related to enrollment processes, sales strategies, pricing, curriculum, and student support services. Laura brings a broad business perspective to engagements, having worked with clients in a variety of industry verticals including financial services, loyalty and incentives, HR outsourcing, technology, and travel. Prior to joining Eduventures, she was VP of the Financial and Business Services practice at Fuld & Co., a leading competitive intelligence consulting firm. She also launched and headed up three business units at Dalbar, a leading financial services research and consulting firm in Boston. Laura holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and has completed graduate-level coursework at Harvard University.


Kristen D. Fox, Program Director and Senior Analyst

Kristen leads the research services and staff in the Academic Leadership and Schools of Education Learning Collaboratives. At Eduventures, Kristen has worked directly with hundreds of colleges and universities nationwide. She has designed, developed, and executed major strategic market research projects; designed and implemented university benchmarking investigations; developed international growth strategies; guided universities through successful accreditation; and led universitywide strategic planning efforts. Kristen was previously a senior member of Eduventures’ Higher Education Consulting practice, in which she managed complex consulting engagements with Eduventures’ postsecondary clients. She also previously served as the Research Manager in the Continuing and Professional Education Learning Collaborative (CPE-LC), managing all custom research activities. Prior to joining Eduventures, Kristen held positions at the U.S. Department of State in the Office of Economic and Development Affairs, the International Equity Research Team at the Evergreen Investment Management Company, and at Colgate University in the Development Office. She also taught undergraduate global history and writing courses at the University of California, San Diego. Kristen holds an M.A. from the University of California, San Diego, where she focused on studying educational policies and outcomes in developing countries, and a B.A. from Colgate University.


Sean Robert Gallagher, Program Director and Senior Research Analyst

Sean directs the research staff, services, and agenda in two of Eduventures' Learning Collaboratives: Continuing and Professional Education and Summer Sessions, ensuring that members derive significant value from the programs' research and associated services. In addition, Sean leads original research and analysis of trends and practices in the development, delivery, and marketing of continuing and professional education. Sean is a nationally recognized expert on the higher education market, and he has authored or co-authored more than 100 in-depth research reports and briefs since joining Eduventures in 2000. Sean is a frequent speaker at higher education conferences, and his analysis and commentary are featured often in leading media outlets such as The Chronicle of Higher Education, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and CBS Television. Sean also has been an invited presenter at government and accrediting agency meetings on education policy, and he has extensive experience advising senior executives of universities and corporations on market strategy. Prior to Eduventures, Sean worked in high-tech public relations at Manning Selvage & Lee; as a systems analyst at Union International Systems; and as the principal and founder of Kranberry Systems, a technology consulting firm. Sean holds an M.B.A. from Ellis College of the New York Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in marketing from Northeastern University, where he graduated magna cum laude and was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma.


Richard Garrett, Program Director and Senior Research Analyst

Richard Garrett is the Senior Research Analyst serving Eduventures' Learning Collaborative program in Online Higher Education. A recent addition to the Eduventures team, Richard is widely regarded as one of Europe's foremost online higher education experts. Prior to joining Eduventures, Richard was deputy director of the Observatory on Borderless Higher Education in the United Kingdom, a position he held from 2001 to 2005. His research and consulting work has focused on higher education trends worldwide, particularly online learning, internationalization, and commercial activity. Among his recent publications is E-learning in Tertiary Education- where do we stand?, a 2005 book commissioned by the OECD, Paris. Richard has been quoted in the London Times Higher Education Supplement, Australia's Campus Review, and the South China Morning Post. He has also served as a researcher in the School of Education, University of Surrey and at the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (U.K.). Richard earned both a B.A. and an M.A. from King's College, University of London, as well as a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education from the University of Cambridge.


Tim Mann, Program Director and Senior Research Analyst

Tim is responsible for directing the overall research agenda for the Student Affairs Learning Collaborative. In this capacity he guides the development of Collaborative Research projects and manages the program team producing custom research for the Student Affairs Learning Collaborative. Prior to joining Eduventures, Tim held the position of Dean of Student Affairs at Babson College, where he worked as part of the administration team for 13 years. In this position, Tim provided leadership for campus planning initiatives, student assessment, enrollment planning, student services, judicial affairs, and crisis management. Tim recently published articles in the International Journal of Educational Advancement titled, “Campus Fundraising: Using Theoretical Perspectives to Understand Donor Motives,” and in Planning for Higher Education titled, “Strategic and Collaborative Crisis Management: A Partnership Approach to Large-Scale Crisis.” Also, Tim has served as a Facilitator Instructor for online courses in Ethics and the Workplace at Northeastern University in the Online MBA program. Tim holds a Ph.D. in law, policy, and society from Northeastern University. Tim also holds an M.S. in college student personnel from Northeastern University and a B.P.A. in public administration from the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada.


Kim Reid, Program Director and Senior Analyst

Kim has more than 10 years of experience in education research, marketing communications, and program evaluation. With the Intercultural Resource Corporation, Kim created video-based tools for educators and corporate trainers in the area of intercultural communication and led clients through the transition to Web-based communication. Prior, she served as a research associate with Rockman et al, where she conducted research on the integration of learning and technology. At Indiana University, Kim taught discussion sections for introductory telecommunications classes and conducted research on communication strategies in distance education classrooms. Kim holds a B.A. from Duke University, an M.S. from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and has completed her Ph.D. coursework at Indiana University in mass communication. While at Indiana, she was awarded a research fellowship with Children's Television Workshop.


Jennifer Zaslow, Program Director and Senior Analyst

Jennifer is responsible for the Development program's overall research agenda and Collaborative Research reports. She also manages the research team, fulfilling Custom Research requests for program members. Jennifer has more than 10 years of experience researching management best practices and market trends, with a focus on generating actionable insights and decision support for executives. Jennifer has published more than a dozen articles related to human resource strategy, organizational development, and process redesign in leading journals and trade magazines. She most recently was assistant director of the Human Resources Policy Institute, a membership-based research center at Boston University's School of Management serving the heads of human resources from more than 50 global companies including Best Buy, Colgate-Palmolive, EMC, Fidelity Investments, Gillette, IBM, J.C. Penney, Kaiser Permanente, and UnumProvident. She previously served as a product manager and market research associate at Zweig White and as a research specialist at the Corporate Executive Board, and has also led market research and product development for a start-up career services company. Jennifer earned an M.B.A. with high honors from Boston University and a B.A., magna cum laude, from Smith College.
