Eduventures Academic Leadership Learning Collaborative

The Eduventures Academic Leadership Learning Collaborative (AL-LC) draws on the experiences of more than 350 institutions participating in Eduventures seven other Learning Collaboratives to provide provosts and other senior academic administrators with data, insight, and guidance to address key strategic issues that impact their institutions.

The concept of an Academic Leadership Learning Collaborative was born from our extensive work and library of research in higher education. Like all of Eduventures Learning Collaboratives, the development and introduction of the AL-LC began with an exhaustive examination of the challenges and issues provosts and other academic leaders see as critical to the success of their universities. Hundreds of interviews were conducted and advisory meetings held to formulate the basis for the AL-LC.

Our interviewees and advisory meeting attendees helped us identify four very distinct overarching themes that have formed the foundation of our AL-LC focus.

• How I can develop and support my incredibly diverse faculty?
  
  
• Accordingly, how do I effectively measure faculty performance, and from that, develop and implement a pertinent compensation program?
  
  
• How can I address the extraordinary dynamics around effective student assessment that drive measureable learning outcomes so that my university can look at innovative new curricular programs that address student needs while preparing them for postgraduate life?
  
  
• In the day-to-day world of academic affairs, what are the best practices and policies that the university should consider to most positively and effectively impact all students’ college experiences while “driving” them to succeed at the highest level possible in preparation for postgraduate work or professional opportunities?
